    Description
The Boxer Brown is the most durable Root Pouch yet. With strong, breathable fabric made from recycled water bottles and featuring an industrial lockstitch technique with finished seams, the Boxer Brown pouch will stay tough season after season.
Sizes under 5 gallons and over 45 Gallons & up do not include handles.
Root Pouch plant pots can be used to grow plants of any size and type, and are also ideal for transporting plants because they are lightweight and durable. Potted plants and trees will enjoy healthy growth while above-ground, and can also be planted directly in the ground, where the pot will degrade to allow the roots to take hold in the natural environment. The Root Pouch plant pot can be used successfully in many different climate and soil conditions, from desert sand to clay.

What makes Root Pouch plant pots a more sustainable gardening option?
Root Pouch plant pots used reclaimed plastic bottles that would otherwise end up in landfills. Using recycled plastic requires no new plastic to be made, which saves on petroleum and uses no fossil fuels.
What makes Root Pouch plant pots a better choice for healthier plants?
Root Pouch plant pots are more breathable and water-efficient, encouraging a more fibrous, dense root structure and preventing roots from circling. They also provide superior insulation, protecting plants against winter cold and summer heat.
What are Root Pouch plant pots made of?
Root Pouch plant pots are made of PETE (polythehylene terephthalate) derived from plastic bottles. This material is spun into fibers that are mixed with recycled cotton fibers, which degrade harmlessly over time. The resulting geotextile is available in four versions, each with a different degradation schedule—from six months to six years.

    Product Q&A
    Q
Do these fabric pots drain on there own or do they have drain holes, if not can holes be put in them?
    A
The Root Pouch is made with breathable fabric that should not require additional drain holes. You can add holes to the Root Pouch however we would not recommend it.
    Q
Will you be carrying the green & red boxer Root Pouches?
    A
At this time we have not made plans to stock the Red or Green Root Pouches.
    Q
Would this product work for plants like zucchini or squash?
    A
Yes, the Root Pouch can be used for this application.
    Q
What size root pouch should you use for a tomato plant?
    A
We would suggest the 3 or 5 gallon Root Pouches for this application.
    Q
Can you tell me about the food safety of these, since they are manufactured from recycled plastic? I am trying to avoid anything harmful that may leach into my vegetable plants. I have been looking only for food grade growing containers.
    A
While the Root Pouch is made from recycled materials, the use of them in the garden is not harmful in any way. In fact, our master gardener has successfully grown vegetables in them for many years and loves the ease of using something as efficient and durable as the Root Pouch. They will help boost plant growth and yields and naturally degrade over time depending on the Pouch being purchased.
    Q
How many years can these pots last? I want to use them to grow blueberry bushes in. Will they work?
    A
Yes, the Root Pouch could be used to grow blueberry bushes in and have the longest lifespan of any of the Root Pouch products. We can not give a definitive timeframe for breakdown of the materials however because the breakdown rate will change depending on growing conditions used.
    Q
Could I use these to grow potatoes? What size?
    A
Yes, this product can be used to successfully grow potatoes. Our master gardener stated that he would use our ten gallon Root Pouch Pots.
    Q
Could I use these for ornamental grass like Overdam? And if so, what size do you recommend?
    A
Our master gardener states that the Root Pouches can be used for growing ornamental grasses and would suggest our 3 gallon pouch or larger for use.
    Q
What is the price of the 3 gal. and the 5 gal.? Is there a min to buy as I only have a small garden.
    A
Located directly across from the product image you will find a selection box listing all of the sizes and quantities that we offer with the corresponding prices.
    Q
I'm wanting a product that will provide a barrier to nematodes. I have been using large plastic plots, but there are nutrient and drainage issues with those. I am assuming the roots do not penetrate the bag?
    A
Roots will attach to the fabric of the Root Pouch Boxer Brown Fabric Pot but will not penetrate through the material. Our master gardener suggests placing the Root Pouch Pots on ground cover to assist with creating a barrier for nematodes.
    Q
Do these pouches have to be planted in the ground or can they be used as planters above ground?
    A
Depending on the version that you plan on using, the Root Pouch products can successfully be used above ground or can be planted into the ground.
    Q
Does water seep through the pots after watering?
    A
Yes, the Root Pouch products are permeable.
    Q
Can you give me the size for the 65 gallon and the 100 gallon?
    A
The 65 gallon Boxer Brown Root Pouch dimensions are 32"W x 18"H while the 100 gallon Root Pouch dimensions are 38"W x 20"H.
    Q
I have asked this before and have not seen an answer. You say these are the "longest lasting" root pouches - how long is that? A range is given for the other Root pouch products - what is the range for this? Also your suggested pot sizes for growing vegetables in these seem small. A 3 gallon container is too small for any tomato - you need at least 10 gallons and better 15 gallon size for tomatoes. You can probably grow some mini or cherry tomatoes in 5 gallon.
    A
Unfortunately, we cannot give a definitive time-frame for breakdown of the materials because the breakdown rate will change depending on the growing conditions. The expected lifespan for the Root Pouch Boxer Brown Fabric Pots will depend on a variety of factors including: what is being grown, physical location, soil type used, amount of watering, amount of sunlight, whether the pot is being planted or used above ground, etc. The manufacturer, Root Pouch, does not state an estimated lifespan for the Boxer Brown Pots for these reasons. Usage sizes are based on our master gardener's information as he has been successfully growing a wide variety of plants in our different Root Pouch products for multiple years.
    Q
Is this product appropriate for indoor house plants? I would place the plant in the root pouch and set into a decorative container with a thin plastic water tray under the root pouch. Do you have any suggestions for improvement?
    A
The Boxer Brown Root Pouch can be used for this application.
    Q
What size root pouch do you recommend for zucchini and squash?
    A
We would suggest using the 5 or 7 gallon Boxer Brown Root Pouch for growing zucchini and squash.
    Q
Are the handles on the 5 gal size strong enough to hang the pouch?
    A
The 5 gallon Boxer Brown Root Pouch is constructed with reinforced, industrial strength stitching to assist with strength and durability. The handles have been double stitched and should be able to used for hanging, depending on the weight of the pouch.
    Q
Can I grow blueberry and or blackberry bushes in the 25# Root Pouch?
    A
Our master gardener stated that the 25 gallon Root Pouch Fabric Pots should be able to be used for effectively growing blueberry and blackberry bushes.
    Q
Can you plant eggplant in a root pouch? If so, what size pouch and how many plants per pouch? Love these bags! Highly recommend these over other grow bags.
    A
Our master gardener suggested transplanting eggplant seedlings into 5-7 gallon Root Pouch Fabric Pots.
    Q
What size root pouch should be used for an okra plant?
    A
Our master gardener suggested using the 5 gallon Root Pouch Fabric Pots for growing okra.
    Q
How do you wash or clean root pouches?
    A
The manufacturer states that the Root Pouch Fabric Pots are washable, however, they recommend washing them with an earth friendly detergent and then letting them air dry before use.
    Q
Could these be used to grow citrus trees (which are in 15 gallon plastic now) for a few years before placing in ground? What size do you suggest, if so?
    A
Our master gardener suggested using a 20 Gallon Root Pouch for this application.
    Q
Would these pouches work in a preschool setting to store toys? We want something organic looking, washable, bacteria resistant, and something other than the typical plastic containers and wicker baskets...
    A
The Root Pouch Fabric Pots should be able to be used in this application.
    Q
In what country are pots manufactured?
    A
The Root Pouch is manufactured in Asia.
    Q
What size root pouch do you recommend for greens?
    A
Our master gardener suggested using 2-3 gallons pots for growing most greens, depending on the type, variety, and number of plants being grown.
    Q
If placed on soil will roots grow through the bottom into the soil beneath?
    A
Our master gardener stated that roots could eventually begin to grow through the Boxer Brown Root Pouch Fabric Pots and into the soil, however, he stated that it could take an extended period of time before you begin to see this happen.
    Q
root pouch pots have a note saying Sizes 5 Gallon and up have handles (do not carry when full) if you cant use the handles to move bag when full, what is their purpose?
    A
The handles of the Root Pouch Fabric Pots can be used to assist with re-location, shuffling, dragging, or rotation of the pots when filled with soil. Lifting the larger sized Root Pouch Pots completely off of the ground when filled with heavy soil could result in tearing or fraying of the materials due to extra stress. Also, the Root Pouch Pots with handles can be used for non-garden related needs and the handles provide and ease for carrying purposes.
    Q
Approx how many cubic feet of potting mix will a 5 gallon pouch hold when filled to the top?
    A
Per the dimensions listed, the 5 gallon Boxer Brown Root Pouches should hold approximately 0.4 cu. ft. of potting mix, depending on whether the mixture is dry or moistened and the type of mixture being used.
