Offered here to you is a very neat opportunity to own a piece of Vietnam War social history. This collection was found at an estate in Wisconsin. There are 270+ handwritten love letters from this particular soldier to his wife during his training and service in the Vietnam War. Also included are the polaroid photos he sent to her + a photo album of their time together during his visits back home. The letters are dated from 1967-1969 and cover a ton of his experiences dealing with the emotional aspects of the war and being away from home. Some of the photos he sent back to his wife have handwritten love notes on the backside. The photos display well and give a great view of his life while in Vietnam. This particular soldier was in the 362nd Signal Company and was stationed in Dalat, Vietnam.
The photo album is in good fair condition. Some photos show a bit of handling and some of the photos were taken out of the album and were found loose inside the pages. The letters are all from the soldier to his wife. I didn’t find any of her letters written back to him from her perspective.
These letters are super sentimental. I only read about 15 letters and picked a few to show you here in this listing. There are 270 letters and there is a ton more to read. The photos go along perfectly with the letters. The letters often reference things you can see in the photo album. A very interesting look into the personal nature of the war. If you’re looking to collect items that are just a bit different from what you normally see in the militaria field then this collection would be great for you. It tells a unique story and will be very interesting to read the particular details from his time!
