Antique French Silverplate 2 Plates or Chargers J B SCHOOMAN PARIS C1880s

Description

We are pleased to offer a pair of silverplated plates, bowls or chargers.  These pieces are beautifully elegant - subscribing to the "less is more" theory. They are shiny, free of any ornamentation but absolutely stunning.  Each is stamped:  J B Schooman Paris 20, a square cartouche with an anchor and the initials JS, and the notation metal blanc.  Please see photos and feel free to ask questions.
The only meaningful reference we found for J B Schooman was a notation in the Catalog of Invention Patents, published in France in January, 1880.  It noted (on page 76) that Mr. Schooman, of Rue de Coutres-Saint-Gervais 10 et 12, was responsible for an "attachment process and control of deposits and withdrawal of rich materials on poor materials by electro-chemical process".  Sounds like silverplating, right?  We could find no other information and his mark does not show up in any of our reference materials.  If you have any information, please let us know.
Condition:
Very good;  there are some minor scratches and tiny blemishes but no plate wear or loss.
