British Pattern 1897 Infantry Officer Sword by Alkit Ltd. with Leather Scabbard

Georgian era British Pattern 1897 infantry officer sword that is maker/retailer marked “Alkit Ltd, Cambridge Circus, London, W.C.2." on the left side of the blade. Right side of blade has original “PROVED” inlay. 32” blade is bruised and heavily patinated. Both sides of blade are showing original etching remains. Steel hilt has rich patina. Features the George VI cypher on the guard. Shark skin covered wooden grip has mostly tight wire wrap and undamaged. Fitted in the correct original leather scabbard. The leather is soft and pliable but split at the seam. Good condition otherwise, all parts are tight.

Length of the blade without handle: 82.5 cm (32 1/2")
