English British Pattern 1887 Mark III Martini Henry Bayonet Wilkinson + Sheath

Description

Antique British Model 1887 Mark III Bayonet Sword measuring 23.75" overall with a blade length of 18.5".  Non fullered blade, very good condition showing some light age patina on blade with much original bright finish coming through.  Very good checkered grips with some light wear, use, on them. Pommel left side numbered, "5412".  Excellent working press-stud, The scabbard has steel pieces on each end, with the leather showing some surface wear, the stem on the back shows 2 cracks that do not continue into the body. The throat is stamped "16", inverted, and the throat lip is stamped, 10889.  Ricasso area marked, "89 WILKINSON SWORD COMPANY LONDON".  Opposite side marked, with Forward arrow over WD.  One additional cartouche, guard has some unusual markings.  These are known to have been exported also to other countries.  Nice working press-stud.
